The Question
One Question, two decades of answers
The question we sat down to answer that afternoon: how should an IT solutions provider deliver the ultimate customer experience?
We believed then — and two decades have confirmed — that customers want three things:
- No-pressure recommendations from an unbiased, experienced advisor.
- Commodity pricing through open systems and honest sourcing.
- Custom-tailored solutions that fit just right.
Why "Tailors"?
What We Practice
We run on our own advice
From our earliest days we've operated our own private cloud infrastructure — today at Flexential's data center in Salt Lake City — running the same virtualization, backup, and mobility solutions we recommend. When we tell you a solution works, it's because our own business depends on it too.
Our ultimate purpose at OST has never changed: to provide for our families and still make the soccer game and the school play — and to give our customers the same freedom. Technology should unlock the chains of the traditional office, not add new ones. Every solution we build is measured against that standard.
Tailored Bio
Shea founded Open Source Tailors in 2005 as a traditional value-added reseller, right as virtualization was reshaping business IT. Over two decades, he's guided the company through every major shift in the industry — from on-premise infrastructure to managed services, private cloud hosting, and today's move into AWS and AI-powered solutions. Shea enjoys mountain biking, pickleball, smoking meat, and woodworking. He is also a huge fan of Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere and was named after Shea Stadium (yes, the Mets are usually terrible these days).

Tailored Bio
Brent has been passionate about technology since the days of the Atari 400 and Apple II Plus. With more than 30 years of experience in the IT world, he has helped organizations of every size—from small and mid-sized businesses to Fortune 2000 companies—find practical solutions to real problems. His approach is straightforward: solve the issue at hand. No forced agendas, no endless red tape. Every customer is unique, and Brent believes they deserve to be treated that way. When he’s not working, you’ll find him cheering on his teams (yes, he knows the Mets are usually terrible), watching movies, or diving into anything involving superheroes.
